About Susan Henke
I have been making art since I was old enough to hold a pencil, I always knew that art would play a major role in my life- it even pervades my dreams. When I was 14 we lived in Hawaii for a year and I attended 8th grade there. My art teacher told me that when it came time for college I should apply to attend The Cooper Union in New York City. I never forgot that advice and when the time came I did indeed apply and was accepted there. I graduated from Cooper and also attended California Institute of the Arts for a semester in an exchange program. I became interested in folk art while spending time in Vermont. I painted a few pieces and was excited when they were included in an issue of Country Living magazine. Within a few years my work was represented by a licensing agency and was licensed for puzzles, calendars, prints, placemats, coasters, and even popcorn tins. I am happy to be able to offer prints of these happy colorful paintings that harken back to the more natural lifestyle Americans once led.
Susan lives in the small Hamlet of Shrub Oak with her husband and Border Collies Angus and Ava and last but not least her daughter Sandy's cat Bernadette.
